Person touching cotton plant

Shirt Forest is a responsible and sustainable personalised t-shirt printing company. We believe that sustainable, ethical and environmentally conscious fashion is the future and should be the core foundation of brands choosing their garments and print on demand partner.

That’s why we go above and beyond by planting a tree for each order, using non-toxic water-based ink, recycled and recyclable cardboard boxes, sugar cane mailing bags and gum tape (recycled paper and starch-based glue).

Why organic cotton?

Organic cotton uses less water in crop production and isn’t polluted by harmful chemicals.

The overall benefits of using organic cotton are:

  • 26% less potential for soil erosion
  • 46% less impact on global warming
  • 70% less acidification of land and water
  • 91% less surface and groundwater use

Organic cotton represents only 0.7% of the 25 million tonnes of cotton produced naturally but represents 2.4% of the world’s cultivated land and a massive 16% of the world’s insecticides.

Non-organic cotton contributes to 200,000 deaths per year from exposure to toxic pesticides. More than 300,000 farmers have committed suicides since 1995 due to the insanely high cost of GMO seeds, pesticides and fertilisers.

Organic cotton has a soft feel, minimal impact on the environment (PETA vegan approved, non-GMO, no pesticides and no fertilisers), and results in high-quality clothes that stay vibrant and retain elasticity for longer – significantly increasing the lifetime of clothes.

Cultivating organic cotton ensures that no chemical insecticides, fertilisers or pesticides flow into the soil or adjoining rivers, lakes or seas. As a result, water is not lost as it can be reused again and returned to the soil and other waste sources without causing any harm or pollution.

The overall positive effect on water, animals and biodiversity means that the wellbeing and livelihood of cotton farms, their communities and the environment are respected and protected.

Sustainable packaging

Paper and pack-ins are FSC-certified, chlorine-free and awarded with the EU Ecolabel. Furthermore, just like our other packaging, our paper is fully recyclable.

Sugar Cane Mailers

One-off items and small orders are shipped in environmentally friendly mailing bags made from a sugar cane by-product (sustainable and renewable source), which is the greenest material on the market. They are 100% recyclable and carbon neutral, as the growth of the sugar cane takes enough carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere to offset the transport and entire production process.

The sugar cane used in our mailing bags is grown on reclaimed wasteland and doesn’t impact existing rainforests. Moreover, no fossil fuel is used in the production of these bags.

Recycle at home or work in your regular recycling bin.

Cardboard Boxes

Our lightweight cardboard boxes are vegan-friendly, made from 60% to 90% recycled content, and fully recyclable.

Sustainable delivery

We aim to work with Royal Mail and DPD where possible. Both of these companies truly value the environment and have a strong push on carbon neutral or carbon positive delivery.

In fact, DPD is the UK’s most sustainable delivery company and aims to be the greenest delivery provider on the planet.

Meanwhile, Royal Mail is committed to being a net-zero carbon emission business.
